Shamrock Final Mile

Last Saturday (3/20), 4 of mychildren participated in the Shamrock Marathon for Operation Smile at the Ocean Front. There were over 90 schools from the area that participated. It was a nice, warm day. It all turned out really well. There were 2808 students that participated in the race.

Here are the results of what place my children came in:

Robert- 28th place, with a mile time of 6:12
Shannon- 242nd place, with a mile time of 7:11
Wyland- 258th place- with a mile time of 7:13
Hudson- 258th place- with a mile time of 7:42

To my other beautiful Daughter Shannon! She turned 11 yesterday. She decided for her birthday dinner she wanted to have breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. Cheesecake for dessert. I look forward to what this year will bring for her.

To my Beautiful daugter Michelle! She is 12 years old today.

For her birthday dinner she decided to have shrimp with spaghetti and hush puppies, and chocolate ice cream cake for dessert. My family will be here this weekend to celebrate with celebrate Michelle and Shannon's (whose birthday is Tuesday) birthday. They will also be here to celebrate a late Christmas.

I wish I was better at maintaining my blog. There are many things that go on in my busy life. Why can't I record them on my blog? However, I never seem to have my camera around when I want to take pictures of these events of my life. I am hoping that in 2010 I will be better at this blog thing. I am going to make more of an effort to take pictures and to write about the things that are going on with me and my family. Thank you all for your patience.

On Tuesday 9/15 Cayleb gained a new baby brother. His dad and his step-mom had a baby! His name is Bradley Augustus Ebey. Cayleb got to go to the Hospital on Tuesday evening to see him. He has been waiting patiently for Bradley to come... he is a great big brother! Here he is holding him for the first time!

My 30th Birthday was Friday the 18th; and Cayleb turned 9 on the 20th. My parents were able to come down for the weekend to help us celebrate. On Saturday we went to Motor World to drive go carts and miniature golfing. On Sunday we went bowling! I had not been bowling in years! We had a good time.

I can't believe that MY baby is 9 years old... or that I am 30! Time seems to fly by quickly at times!

Yesterday was Wyland's 8th Birthday. For his Birthday dinner he decided he wanted to have Breakfast. Rob makes homemade donuts, and he wanted to have those along with bacon and scrambled eggs. It was very delicious. He is into Bakugan right now, although I honestly can not tell you what that is exactly, so he received a Bakugan Board game, some cards and Bakugan figures. I think that all in all he had a good birthday. The thing that he was excited about the most was that he no longer has to be in a car seat!

Fall Festival

A few weeks ago my church had its annual Fall Festival. There was a rock climb, inflatable slide, a bounce house, petting zoo, fund run, and much more. Here are some pictures of my kids that we took while we were there.

Cayleb turned 8 on Saturday! After Football and Volleyball games, We went to the movies and saw "Fly Me To The Moon" It is a 3-D movie about 3 flies that go to the moon. The kids liked it. Then we just hung out at home. Cayleb chose Shrimp and corn for his birthday dinner, and Brownies instead of a cake. All in all it was great day!

On Saturday my daughter Shannon went to a Birthday Party at a place called "AT THE HOP". It is a small warehouse that has inflatables and a dance floor area to sing and dress up and dance. Here are some pictures that I took.

Saturday I signed up Robert for Tackle Football and Michelle for Volleyball. Practices start the beginning of August and games begin in September. I will do my best to try and keep you updated with pictures and such. If any are interested, let me know I can tell you when and where they will play and you can come and watch.

Yesterday my youngest turned 7 years old. He decided that for his birthday dinner he wanted to have shrimp and macaroni and cheese, so we had that. We had a chocolate cake with cookies and cream icing. For his presents from Rob and I he got a wrestling ring and 4 wrestlers. He will be getting more presents and cake with his mom on Friday.

2 weeks ago we drove to Northern Virginia to see my sister, Becca graduate from College. She graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor's degree in Conflict Resolution and Analysis. I am not exactly sure what that is, it mainly has to do with her working with other organizations to create a better more peaceful world. Anyway, here are some pictures. After graduation, we had a party at the local park. Ironically, my sister's boyfriend is named--- Rob!

Painted Rock

My aunt sent me an email containing this information and I thought I would share it with all of you.

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Highway 25, located in rural Iowa. For many years, kids have painted on this rock... its character changing many times.

A few months ago, the rock has received its latest paint job and since then, it has become completely undisturbed. Here is why!

Eventful Night/ Fire Alarm

To start off, My husband went out if town for his job on Tuesday, he will be back Friday Night. Last night my kids were all taking showers, using up most if not all the hot water. My assumption of how it all happened was that when I had the door to the bathroom open, and the shower still running, it had so much steam, so the smoke detector thought it was smoke and set off my fire alarm, which in turn sent the fire truck here to my house. My alarm company apparently tried to contact me and when they couldn't they dispatched the fire department. Well needless to say everything is fine, there was no fire and the firemen have come and gone. It is funny thinking about it now, it never fails when your husband is not home that things seem to happen.

Christmas in January

Well, As I said previously My parents and sister came down for a visit this past weekend. They were not able to come visit and celebrate at Christmas. So we kept the tree up and had another Christmas, as well an another semi-birthday for my two girls. On friday my family arrived and we went to have dinner at Golden Corral, I always love to go there so many choices and good food. On Saturday we opened presents and hung out (played with toys, played games, etc) Then my family left Sunday morning. It is a shame that it rained all day on Saturday, we were not able to get outside. But the kids were excited to see the snow (although there was hardly any)and were able to play in it a little bit. All in all we had a good weekend. Sorry there are no pictures to show for it.

Lack of Blogging

I apologize for my lack of blogging... I never seem to have much to blog about. My life does not seem exciting enough to blog about. My sister and my parents are coming today and will stay the weekend. We are going to have a late Christmas and Birthday with them... they still have Christmas presents for everyone, and Birthday Presents for the 2 girls... They're birthdays were last week. Michelle turned 10 on the 7th and Shannon turned 9 on the 12th. So When the weekend is over, I may have some events to share. so.... stay.... tuned... to your computer.

Raking Leaves

Last weekend, 3 of the boys went out and helped to rake up the leaves. Then after that they got to play in the leaves! I rememeber doing this as a kid. It was so much fun. I have posted some pictures of them helping and playing. Rob threw me in as well, much to my dismay!

Thanksgiving

We went to Northern Virginia to see my parents at Thankgiving. The kids had a great time. They went the local community center where they had an indoor pool park (there was a big water slide, rope to swing and jump off, etc).

We went to see a movie called "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" (it had Jutin Bateman, Dustin Hoffman, and Natalie Portman as the main characters) The kids liked it.

And of course all the kids had to play football... all weekend!

My parents recently went on a cruise, their second one. They went to Jamaica and Mexico areas. This was a special sort of cruise. It was a "deaf cruise", that means that everyone on the cruise (passengers, entertainers, etc) are all deaf, or they know sign language. It think that is awesome for them to be able to be a part of that. The first cruise they went on, although they really enjoyed themselves, they had 2 interpreters tagging along with them the whole trip. I wanted to include some pictures of their awesome adventure. Hopefully one day I will be able to go a cruise, I have always wanted to go on a cruise, doesn't matter the destination.

Fall Festivities

Last Saturday my kids school had a Carnival, so we went and stayed for about an hour. These sort of things can be kind of expensive, so each child go to spend 20 tickets (the average cost for games and stuff was 2 tickets). There was so much to do there. The gym had all sorts of games, such as hitting a "bat" with a tennis racket into a net, flipping rubber frogs back into their "pond", throwing beanbags into a wooden face of a scarecrow. There were also 4 types of Moon Bounces, a Cake Walk, Crafts room, etc. I think overall the kids had a good time. And I have got to say it was not as crowded this year as it was last year, I think they had things better organized. So I guess we will continue to keep going until they have "grown" out of it and find more exciting things to do.

10 Year High School Reunion

So This weekend Rob and I traveled to Fairfax to attend my 10 Year High School Reunion. It was a nice weekend. We got to spend some quality time away together, something we do not get to do very often, and it was nice to see some of my old friends that I hadn't seen or talked to in a long time. I am not sure yet if I will be attending the next one.

Birthdays

Tuesday, September 18th was my 28th birthday. Rob and I celebrated on the 15th. We ate at Macaroni Grill, and then went for ice cream at Dairy Queen. Then we went home and tried out a new Monopoly game on the computer. It was a nice night. On the day of my birthday (tuesday), my husband got me flowers, the kids got me flowers, a balloon, and a candle.

Thursday, September 20th was my son Cayleb's birthday, he turned 7 years old. We had grilled cheese sandwiches (which he picked as his birthday dinner), and chocolate cake with Vanilla Icing. He got a magician set, a bug vaccum and a bug keeper (so he can collect the bugs and watch them).

This weekend my parents came to visit from Sterling (that is in Northern Virginia). On Saturday we went to Play Mini Golf, and then to Chuck E Cheese.

And my kids tried to teach my parents how to play a game called "HeroScape". My dad and Robert were the winning team!

Well, after seeing almost everyone I know have a blog, I decided I needed one too. Although I am not sure how often I will post. I guess I should tell those who are reading this and do not know me a little about myself and my family. There are 8 of us, 2 adults 6 children (yes, 6).
